Job 33:9 Elihu NKJV
9 ‘I (am) pure, without transgression;
I (am) innocent חף, and (there is) no iniquity in me.
- Notice in the following, Elihu serves to share the truth with Job, and describes himself, “I like/as your spokesman/mouth (to/toward God)” Notice in the Hebrewאני כפיך. Using cognate permutations, see the hidden word נבא in אני כפיך. p.146 נבא prophet; transmit God’s word. Where else might we look for things/peoplethat transmit God’s word?
- A few hints. First, look at the word for stone p.2 אבן create by using special tool, and note Luke 19:39-40. Think about many places and ways that אבן stone is used. Another important usage is in Torah:
- Exodus 20:25
- 25 And if you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone; for if you wield your tool on it, you have profaned it.
- Wield is נוף which is also wave. Tool is חרב, also sword and parch. You might understand why baking bricks to build a tower indicates putting mankind’s spin on God’s word. And you might understand why temples and cathedrals and carved images of God’s creatures represent a “profaning.”
- Which says the same as Post 01. Leave Scripture Unchanged.
- To stone a person to death may be an encouragement for us to correct our sister or brother with God’s word.
- Another obvious place to look for hints to transmitting God’s word is in the list of phonetic cognates for נבא on p.146.
- Rearranging, as in permutations of those cognates also points you in the right direction.
- And finally, recall the letters might be somewhat “scattered,” or “dispersed” (as in Gn11). So you might look at our Elihu narration below in the underlined Hebrew phrases for אב cognate permutations and see where there is also a נ Nun. And you might notice it in בני ישראל, the children of Israel, which might help you understand why God might get upset with them if they do not follow his word, that is, they “put their own spin on God’s word.” We were intended to be witnesses of God’s word as it was shown to us, and when we are not, is God’s anger not justified? Saying we are transmitting his word when we are really transmitting our own word? Building towers with bricks. Wielding our tools.
- My own interpretation of taking a log out of my eye before the speck in another’s is that when there is a different way of looking at things between myself and another, I am to question myself first. I am to take the position of humility and fully listen to the position of the other. Always interpret the differences in light of what God’s word truly says, not what some people have told you it says, because there is likely a personal spin on it. Which likely means pulling out your log and listening to the other, and then spending time with the LORD, before responding to a different viewpoint.
To adequately transmit God’s word, we would have to be “innocent.” Since not one of us is truly innocent (Mt19:17), our best recourse is the LogAndSpeck procedure, to cleanse ourselves of our own biases first, before attempting to listen to another’s viewpoint. Elihu thoughtfully and patiently listed to all of Job’s discussion and the discussions of Job’s “friends,” before speaking as God’s mouthpiece.

Would you condemn me that you may be justified?
- Please notice the same theme throughout these ten occurrences. Though the word is interpreted differently in different places (Masoretic markings), there is the theme of a point beyond which the LORD’s (יהוה), anger/frustration will not be restrained. The prophets are able to tell about that measure of “bursting forth.” Abraham (Sodom) and Moses (Golden calf) were able in faith and in meekness to question the LORD at a point in time to help change some of the outcome. Job’s arrogance prevents his being able to confront יהוה. It must be done in faith and meekness, and not for oneself, but on behalf of others, of a people. It would be wise to find (not an easy task, ever) one with great faith and enduring meekness to confront the LORD in times of trouble. For those believing Yeshua is Messiah, not even he ever confronted the LORD (יהוה), but only deferred to him. (Mt 26:39; John 5:19, 5:30, 6:38, 8:49, 10:15, 12:49, 14:28, 14:31, 15:10) His stated purpose was to “bear witness to the truth” John 18:37.

If there is such a thing as “when the LORD (יהוה) just can’t take it any more,” what would that point be? We know that God is longsuffering. חאף could be seen as פ + אח. Recall the letters פ and ב are homorganic consonants. The פ is as the mouth, with a meaning of “open,” and the ב is as the house, with a meaning of “in.” Their similarity in meaning (also homorganic with ו Vav) has to do with “in-ness,” “and-ness.” אח is the word for “brother, sister” as in being in close relationship, from the root אחה (and notice the close relationship to אחד, as in God is “One”):

Many puzzle pieces have been placed here on this table. Look at all the connections and piece it together. The pieces the EDBH gives you are variants, cognates, cognate permutations (much more subtle when scattered or dispersed), some definitions in certain contexts, and how they are all interconnected. In this way, we can learn to “see ראה,” as Moshe/Moses “saw ראה” the burning bush. Look at the pieces. Draw connections. Scripture is all about “thematic connections.” The “hints רמז” (see Post 12. Levels of Meaning, and PaRDeS) are all about us. God speaks in hints. It falls to us to “see” them. (See especially the last two lines in the box above from page 7, protection and deep emotion.)
