I do not recall what path led me to the word תקח, as I tend to follow many connections inGod’s word. If I stumble across what led me here in the future, I’ll be sure to reference thisentry. First, note that תקח is not a root, but seems to be a word formed by adding a ת to thebeginning of the root לקח and absorbing the ל. The ל is not one of the typically–indicated“weak consonants” that is commonly dropped when adding prefixes, but it does occuroccasionally, noted even by Gesenius (see bibliography). My first endeavor in investigating this word (since we are making the case that the letters have meaning, even if they are used in forming new words) was to look at roots that are “would-be cognates,” if indeed there were a תקח root. Does the “algorithm” work? I hope, as we progress, that you will see that the algorithm does work. To me, such exercises give more confidence in the concepts Hirsch laid out and Clark has shared in the book.

Remember that “the life (h5315. נֶפֶשׁ nep̱eš) of the flesh (h1320. בָּשָׂר ḇâśâr) is in the blood(h1818. דָּם ḏâm).” (Lv17:11)
Note the word “land” is added. Who are “the dry?”
Who among you readers knows where the following quotation comes from? The answer is toward the end of today’s entry, but before you scroll to the end, think about it in silence for a few minutes. To me, it says the same thing as in Exodus 4:9.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
We have some words to look up. What is the significance of this “sign” that the Israelites would be certain to understand, had they not understood the previous ones. No doubt there are many messages in the sign. The beauty of signs is like the beauty of parables. What you see depends on where you are standing. One reason we need “multiple witnesses” to triangulate the truth. I’ll give you one message that I see.
Remember that בשׂר is both “flesh” and “tidings.”
OK. That is the first twenty-two of 103 occurrences of תקח. I will not make you suffer through all 103, as they seem to give much the same idea. I will give a few more poignant examples before winding up.

וְכִי יָזִד אִישׁ עַל רֵעֵהוּ לְהׇרְגוֹ בְעׇרְמָה מֵעִם מִזְבְּחִי תִּקָּחֶנּוּ לָמוּת.

14 “But if a man acts with premeditation against his neighbor, to kill him by treachery, you shall take (h3947. לָקַח lâqaḥ) him from My altar, that he may die.

Ezekiel 5:1-8
1 “And you, son of man, take (קַח) a sharp sword, take (h3947. לָקַח lâqaḥ) it as a barber’s razor, and pass (it) over (h5674. עָבַר ‘âḇar) your head and your beard; then take (וְלָקַחְתָּ) scales to weigh and divide the hair. 2 You shall burn with fire one-third in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are finished; then you shall take (וְלָקַחְתָּ) one-third and strike around it with the sword, and one-third you shall scatter in the wind: I will draw out a sword after them. 3 You shall also take (וְלָקַחְתָּ) a small number of them and bind them in the edge of your garment. 4 Then take (h3947. לָקַח lâqaḥ) some of them again and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. 5 “Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations and the countries all around her. 6 She has rebelled against My judgments by doing wickedness more than the nations, and against My statutes more than the countries that are all around her; for they have refused My judgments, and they have not walked in My statutes.’ 7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Because you have multiplied disobedience more than the nations that are all around you, have not walked in My statutes nor kept My judgments, nor even done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you’— 8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Indeed I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations.
If my speculation is correct, the passage in Gn28:6-9 and this passage in Ek5:1-8, where there are mixtures of forms of לקח, some as תקח, others not, then it would only be the ones with ת “the mark” that set significant consequences in motion. When I try to follow Mahalath and her sons from the Genesis passage, I do not find much. Here in Ezekiel, the path would be to focus on the barber’s razor and on a portion burned in the fire. We will not do that exercise here.

23 Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You hold me by my right hand.
24 You will guide me with Your counsel,

Read this entire Psalm. Recall לקח is both take and receive. When we have a repentant heart, we also “set in motion” this “ordinance.”

Now the quotation from above that reflects Exodus 4:9. What has been “set in motion.”
Why is this such a powerful beacon? It is based upon a תקח – it has the “mark” of :

Futility is in fighting against what has been “set in motion.” Fear not. The life נפש of the flesh בשׂר is in the blood דם.
The spiritual repose of the message/tidings is in being quiet in the confusion, focusing our efforts upon resembling the Creator, “losing our independence” to the One.
To me, תקח explains so well one of the clearest revelations of life in Scripture, which is more fully explained in Post 14 Synthetic Grasp of Life. I encourage you to read the entire chapter. There is much there. A brief synopsis is here:
